Senior Cooperative Business Consultant
(he, him, his)

Charlie joined the ICA Group in 2024 as a Senior Cooperative Business Consultant on the homecare team, driven by his passion for economic systems change. Charlie began his career at BLab, the non-profit behind B Corp Certification, where he supported hundreds of companies in verifying their social and environmental impact. He went on to join the standards management team, overseeing the continuous improvement of B Corp standards. Through research, data analysis, interviews, and focus groups, Charlie developed rigorous standards for businesses across diverse industries and regions to ensure they prioritize the well-being of workers, communities, and the environment.

Most recently, Charlie worked at Drexel University where he helped establish the research development team and launched research analytics services to support faculty pursuing interdisciplinary research.

Charlie holds a BS in Applied Economics & Management and Information Science from Cornell University.

Fun Facts

What do you do at ICA?

I work on the Home Care team supporting the creation of new home care cooperatives, strengthening existing cooperatives, and building a resilient sector for home care workers.

What is a worker-owned business that inspires you?

I learned about worker-owned cooperatives on a visit to Home Care Associates in Philadelphia, which inspired me to learn more about the field. I’m grateful to now work with many inspiring home care cooperatives across the country!

What is your favorite podcast?
Wha is your favorite TED Talk?

I love Donella Meadows’ lecture on sustainable systems (you can find it on Youtube) and her related book “Thinking In Systems.” While not directly about leadership, her teachings emphasize the power of relationships and information in shaping the behaviors and outputs of a system. She offers a holistic way of thinking that I believe all organizational leaders can learn something from.

What helps you maintain work-life balance?

Trees, music, and food! I try to spend time outside as much as possible, whether that is biking through the city or camping in the woods. I usually have music playing throughout the day, and I play the drums and guitar. Cooking and tending to my container garden always bring me back to the present.

Where is your current home base?

I’m based in Philadelphia, PA.
